There are always times in life when we need to be alone to talk to our emotions and heal
ourselves.

A book that can be played with different sounds just by touching the drawing branches.
I used the Chinese version of the book "Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind" and drew some trees and branches on it with conductive ink. They were attached to the mpr121 capacitive touch sensor with conductive tape. There are 12 inputs, 12 individual trees and LEDs, and I made my own synthesized music, 12 songs of about 1 minute each. I used Processing in conjunction with Arduino to make the music and used a Bluetooth speaker connected to the computer to output the final sound. You can touch any inked areas to complete the set sounds, and the different sounds will overlap, giving the impression of creating the music live.

Each of the rotating shapes symbolises the phenomenon of 'Involution' of us as individuals in
today's society.

Listening into our inner ‘voice’, heartbeats.
The whole project is about visualising the pulse data of the human body, using Arduino to sense the pulse and input the data into openFrameworks, and finally outputting the visualised content. The idea for my project came from a period of thinking about the concept of life. I was initially inspired by two novels, 'Klara and the Sun' by Kazuo Ishiguro and 'She Came from Mariupol' by Natascha Wodin, both of which have different themes, but both of which have inspired me to think about life and human after reading them. Therefore, I decided to express my thoughts on this subject through this project.

In this 'post-epidemic' era we are now living in, the effects of the epidemic are slowly emerging,
both good and controversial. Each country has different policies to deal with these effects, and
there are voices of agreement and disagreement. There is so much happening in the world
every day, especially after the worst of the epidemic has passed, that we seem to appreciate
what we have in the present. Apart from the external aspects of things that we have, when we
return to ourselves, we can enjoy and appreciate what we have based on the fact that we are
alive, with a beating heart, and that everything comes from life. I personally enjoy watching
documentaries about nature, such as the BBC's 'The Blue Planet' and 'The Green Planet', and so
on. They all inspire me and make me think about life. For example, single-celled plankton, you
can see through a microscope how it survives in its own ecosystem, and a tiny beating heart is
clearly visible. It is as if you can hear its sound. Going back to ourselves, when we look too far
outside or search for meaning, sometimes it is important to return to ourselves and listen to
our own inner voice. In the novel 'Klara and the Sun', Klara is an anthropomorphic AI robot with
the same appearance as a human, whose energy comes from the sun and who loves everything
around her. In the novel 'She Came from Mariupol', the author uses her own point of view and
first-person narrative to find and investigate the history of her mother who left Ukraine to work
as a labourer in Germany during the Second World War. The novel also reveals a forgotten
history and a sad community of people who were inhumanely constrained to work in Germany
during that period of history. Reading this book also made me feel more realistic about the
fragility and preciousness of life.
